Vision

The emergence of mobile TV applications offers great perspectives for the broadcasting industry to enable new services on all kinds of devices ranging from car to PC and mobile phone. New video/audio coding schemes and high data rates provided by broadcast networks represent the natural evolution of digital television to the mobile wireless industry. Since 2000, DiBcom has worked on implementing efficient reception techniques into advanced integrated circuits to meet this market demand.

Several Wireless Standards have emerged over the last few years to increase multimedia and data access in mobile situation. As an example, the third generation UMTS system for mobile telephony offers a higher bit rate but still fairly limited and is not well suited for broadcast services such as TV or radio. Our vision to use broadcast networks for such services became a reality as the new DVB-H standard was created in 2004, focusing at receiving TV in mobile devices including mobile phones.

Today, DiBcom is offering a wide range of Integrated Circuits specialized for each of these markets. The high performance, the low power consumption, the small size and the integration of advanced features offer the best solutions on the market to our customers.

DiBcom vision is to enable the mobile experience over hundreds of kilometres in a moving car or train travelling at more than 200 km/h. DiBcom has developed algorithms that track the fast changes in signals while moving and computes in real time the necessary corrections, thus overcoming the main technological barrier to a clean reception even in presence of echoes and Doppler effects. This technology can be deployed without additional requirements or changes in professional TV transmission systems and equipment using terrestrial digital TV. It is potentially hundreds of millions of mobile phones, cars and PCs that will receive TV anywhere at anytime and on the move.
